First Baptist Church has a 160-year history in Bronson, Michigan where it is the oldest church. The church was founded under the leadership of Elder Monroe in 1857, before the Civil War. The church has continued to reach out to those who need Jesus since that time. Pastor Tim Rowland has laid a vision for the church body that our impulses must come from our head, Jesus Christ, The Righteous One.

Pastor Tim Rowland

God used the family in which Tim grew up in many different way, which shaped  the man he is today. His parents, Bill and Mary Rowland, had as the theme verse for their wedding  Romans 15: 5-6, especially focusing on verse 6: “That we may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Pastor Tim grew up as a PK/TK/MK(Preacher’s Kid/Teacher’s Kid/Missionary Kid) which exposed him to many godly influences and experiences. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at the age of five, while his father was serving as the pastor for Baptist Church in Grand Marais, MI. At the age of nine, Tim was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church in Negaunee while his father was serving as interim pastor. While a senior in high school in Oxford, MI, he attended a servant leadership camp and made the decision to surrender his life to serve the Lord in full-time ministry.

In order to pursue this commitment, Pastor Tim attended Northland Baptist Bible College in Dunbar, WI, earning a degree in Pastoral Theology in 2001. He finished his Master of Arts degree in Cross-Cultural Studies at Northland International University in 2005, which was the same year he married his amazing and godly wife, Sharon Elizabeth [Bailey] Rowland.

Tim and Sharon have been blessed with six energetic and dynamic children: Chloe (2006),  Joey (2008), Stevie (2010), Cleleste (2013), Claira (2017) and Charlotte (2021)
